We work with speech and language pathologists and pediatricians who help us apply the latest research, and all the activities and tips we share are curated and endorsed by experts in the field.

Great question! When you support your child’s speech and language development early on, it can lead to a range of benefits, like reducing temper tantrums and improving future academic success. The evidence suggests that babbling as a baby is important for developing language later on, and recent studies show the correlation between babbling and stimulation in the area of the brain that’s associated with language production!

Speech-Language Pathologists are experts with thousands of hours of training and clinical practice, and Babbly isn’t meant to replace therapy. Our goal is to support parents, give them personalized data and help them understand and navigate speech and language development with confidence—as early as 3 months! Babbly can be a great complement to speech therapy and we encourage you to work with your therapist if you’re using the resources in the app.

You upload video or audio recordings directly in the app, and our AI-powered software analyzes their unique speech patterns! When you choose to use a video, we only use the audio portion of the file for our analysis.

We use artificial intelligence to analyze the various aspects your child's speech. Our technology can classify up to 3 different kinds of babbling, in addition to other forms of speech, like cooing or crying. Our technology can also analyze back-and-forth exchanges, or Turn Taking between you and your little one.

While we only ever analyze the audio, we give parents the option use videos, since this is one of the most common ways that they have their children’s voice recorded!

When you upload a variety of high-quality speech samples, your analysis will be more accurate and specific. We know it can be tricky to record the perfect sample, but here are our top tips for choosing files to upload:

• Clarity - Try uploading files with the clearest audio possible.

• Amount - Try uploading at least 2-3 minutes of data every week to start seeing your child’s progress.

• Subject - Try to capture your child’s voice without background noise or other conversations. Files that include the sound of multiple children are not the best input.

• Environment - Depending on the environment where your video or audio file was taken, the results can vary. Videos from a birthday party, for example, most likely include a lot of background noise. If you’re playing with your little one one-on-one, that’s usually a good time to capture their voice.

We go beyond the typical age- and milestone-based recommendations to give you support that makes sense for your one-of-a-kind family. We analyze the recordings and information you provide about your child’s development to give you personalized activity recommendations and prompts tailored to your goals and their skills.

Right now, Babbly is available for free. In the future, we may launch experiences that cost money, but we’ll always have a free version that lets parents get a basic understanding of their baby’s development.

We only collect the information we need in order to provide you with the most accurate insights about your child’s speech and language skills and to personalize your experience. All information collected comes directly from the forms you fill out in the app, which may include your name, your child’s name, your email and photos or videos that you upload directly into Babbly.

In order to provide you with personalized insights, we ask that you upload videos of you and/or your child into the app. To analyze the speech data included in the videos, we will capture, process and retain the audio and videos you provided us for the duration of your subscription period. We will not sell, share or trade the data you provide us to any unrelated third parties, mass marketers or other non-affiliated entities for their marketing purposes without your consent.
